He goes to Britain not to learn more about politics and the future of his country or how he can change it, but to go back to his past. Furthermore, the last thing he took home with him was a record, not resistance materials. And he cared enough about the records, the music, to risk going to prison by having them in his possession. But he wouldn't sign Ferdo's docs for the same fear of prison. I agree that Jan cares, but I think it’s not at the forefront of his mind.
